‘stache, day 14 (11/29)
Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

While I was in Sudbury for Thanksgiving, I took the camera and a tripod out to my parents’ back yard (my old back yard) and took some long-exposure shots. I like the way they turned out. This is one where I got the dogs to sit still for long enough to not be all blurry.
I’ve made a set that I’ll add to as time goes on for all the long exposure shots I’ve taken. Check it out.

On Saturday I had to get my computer fixed. I brought it to the Apple Store on Staten Island because I was able to get a “genius bar” appointment there more easily than in Manhattan. And that set of a little adventure. In my way back, I got off the SI expressway at the last exit and drove down to the base of the Verrizano Narrows Bridge where I discovered that there was an old fort and battery there dating back to the mid 1800s. There was an old torpedo shed there where they could cart out torpedoes (what we now call mines) out to the fort where they could be deployed on cables across the narrows. No one ever has attempted to invade New York Harbor, however, and this fort is now just a relic.

I miss the summer as the weather is getting cooler. But I maintain that I do like the fall. Don’t you like getting out your sweaters and scarves?

This is from within the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. This, for me, captures the feeling of the endless paths between the smaller buildings in the outskirts of the city. It was easy to get lost in this area.
